5 Things to Consider The Next Time You’re Completing Home Renovations

Home renovations can be stressful, time-consuming, expensive, and overwhelming, so it’s always important to set a goal and keep your focus on it.

Figure out what you want to do with this renovation and make sure you’re headed in that direction. Do you want to create more space? Do you want to modernize the look and feel of a certain room? Do you want to upgrade the technology?
Here are some things to consider the next time you grab your toolbox and begin a home renovation:

Take Your Storage Outside

If you are renovating your home and you’re already in the construction stage, then you should consider making some drastic changes. It’s the perfect time to look at those random closets and cupboards you have that are filled with junk and see what you can do to eliminate them.

This is the perfect time to go through everything, throw out things you don’t need, and sell things you no longer use. This cleanse will feel good and will give you a mental charge that will leave you feeling energized and unburdened. When the renovations are complete, and you have fewer things in your home, it will feel like a brand new space.

I recommend looking into waterproof outdoor storage boxes so you can store more things outside, rather than in your home where space is limited.

Make Space In Your Kitchen

The kitchen is the most important house in the room for so many reasons. We spend so much time in our kitchens and, most times, our lives revolve around this room.

It’s easy for our counter space to get taken up and for things to become cramped and messy. If you can make the most out of your cupboards and the walls then you’ll leave the counter free of items and you’ll feel like you can move around more.

Purchasing an over the range microwave is a great way to free up space and eliminate one appliance from being in the way. Most people have their microwave sitting on the counter and it takes up over 3 feet of space.

If you can lift it off your counter and insert it over your oven, you’re giving yourself more room to move around and use this space more effectively. I recently moved my microwave off the counter and I filled that space with a Jura Impressa A9 coffee machine – so far, this has been of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Create a Quiet Space

Our homes can become so busy, convoluted, and hectic without our even knowing that, eventually, it’s hard to find a space that is just for you. It’s important to have somewhere you can rest that isn’t your bed, that will help you gain a mid-day charge before facing reality again.

If you can take a room or space and convert it into a quiet space for you to spend time, you will be able to work on your mental health within your own home without restriction. Consider turning half of your spare bedroom or random corner into space for you to just sit and recharge.

More Open Air

In continuing with the above topic, it can be important to just have more open spaces in our homes.

Consider your options to let more sunshine into your house and having things feel freer, rather than closed off and dark. The open-air and light will help you feel awake and can lead to you (and your family) being happier, energized, and communicative.

Replicate Your Dream Home

Many people will see their dream home and feel like it is never attainable for them. It might be owned by people who have more money and space, which makes them feel like it could never belong to them.

But you can replicate your dream home when completing renovations!

Take some of your favorite things that you’ve seen in your dream home and make a plan to implement them inside your own home. In today’s world, where everything is possible, you could easily turn your own space into the home you’ve dreamt of for years.

Home renovations are the perfect time to start fresh and create a space that is perfect, so make the most out of things the next time you begin renovating your home.
